Myth 1: “I’m too old to learn piano.”

Truth: Many of my happiest students began in their 50s, 60s—even 70s. Adults often learn faster because you choose this for yourself and bring patience, focus, and life experience to the music. My own mom, who had never played piano before, went through this very course on her own at age 77—with very limited English. I’ve even had a student at age 90 who delighted in sitting at the piano each day. If they can do it, so can you.

Myth 2: “I’m not talented enough.”

Truth: Talent is not required—curiosity and patience are. I’ve taught hundreds of students, and the ones who succeed are not the “gifted” ones, but the ones who simply show up and enjoy the process.

Myth 3: “I’ll need years of lessons before I can play real music.”

Truth: You don’t have to wait. You’ll play your first simple piece within your very first week—and keep building a repertoire you love, step by step.

Myth 4: “If I don’t study with a teacher in person, I’ll miss something important.”

Truth: Online lessons give you freedom: you can pause, rewind, and review as often as you like. You’ll never feel rushed, and you won’t have anyone breathing down your neck. In fact, many adults prefer learning at home without the pressure of a studio full of kids. And I have seen with my own eyes how students in this course have flourished without ever meeting me!

Myth 5: “Teachers go too fast, use jargon, and expect me to just ‘get it.’”

Truth: That’s not how I teach. Every lesson is paced slowly, explained in plain language, and demonstrated clearly—so you can actually understand and enjoy what you’re learning. Honestly, I’ve watched some YouTube tutorials where the teacher goes so fast I wonder if they’ve ever worked with a real beginner. That’s not the experience you’ll have here.

Who Am I?

I’m Kristina Lee, and the piano has been both my companion and my calling.

I began teaching as a teenager just to pay for my own lessons, then went on to study piano performance at the university level. For years, music was my whole world—until it wasn’t. Life carried me in different directions, and for a long season, I stepped away from teaching and even from the piano itself.

It wasn’t until I was 40, after walking through both beauty and heartbreak, that I returned to the instrument I loved. And in that return, I discovered something new: music wasn’t just about performing or achievement. It was about healing, joy, and the quiet gift of creating something beautiful, even in ordinary moments.

When I began teaching adults again, I saw myself in their questions and hesitations:

• “What if I don’t have enough talent?”

• “Can I really do this on my own?”

I knew I could help, because I had lived through those doubts myself. And so I began shaping a way of teaching that would meet adults exactly where they are—calm, clear, and encouraging.
